Hi NWC2015 Fans!
First of all welcome to my diary!
This is the first of many entries in the lead up to our big event in August.
Well friends, what a week’s it’s been, out and about meeting many netball fans in and around Brisbane, on the first leg of our Netball World Cup SYDNEY 2015 Trophy Tour!
Jumping on the Pacific Highway, we headed north out of Sydney to beautiful Coffs Harbour. It was great to see the iconic Big Banana, but most off all I loved hanging out with all of the netballers and their families who came down to day hi and take a photo with the sport’s pinnacle – the NWC2015 Trophy – at Coffs Harbour Netball Association.
And did you know that Karen Stocks, the Managing Director of Twitter Australia, is also from Coffs Harbour? We headed down to the Mooney Beach to meet her. Karen is one of our Official Starting SevenAmbassadors for NWC2015 and looked quite at home in our Trophy Tour wheels.
It was then back on the road, crossing the border into our second state for the tour so far; the Sunshine State, Queensland. We checked out the South-East Queensland Challenge at the State Netball Centre on arrival in Brisbane. The next day I went out to Downey Park Netball Association’s Representative Carnival, where I met so many keen, up and coming netballers! We also stopped by Coorparoo, where the Metropolitan Districts Netball Association were also holding a Representative Carnival.
We also spent some time visiting the Gold Coast during our trip in the Sunshine State. St Hilda’s School in Southport put on a BBQ to celebrate the arrival of the Trophy Tour, and I had a great time meeting the students who just seemed to love netball!
Our final stop on the first leg of the tour was at the Queensland Firebirds’ home game against the NSW Swifts at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. It was a massive celebration for the final game of round five, with fans turning out to celebrate the Trophy Tour as well as Australian Diamonds’ and Queensland Firebirds’ captain, Laura Geitz’s 100th ANZ Championship game! Did you catch me on court at half time with the other mascots?!
Stay tuned as after Easter we’ll be back on the road, this time headed south to Victoria! Make sure you check out http://nwc2015.com.au/Fans/Trophy-Tour for more details, and follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Don’t forget to use the hashtags #NWC2015 #TrophyTour
