Hey NWC2015 Fans!
Can you believe there’s now just three weeks to go until the first centre pass of the Netball World Cup SYDNEY 2015? But the #TrophyTour team and are still out on the road visiting as many fans as we can before the event kicks off on Friday 7 August!
We had a great long weekend hanging out with the 131 teams who participated in Netball NSW’s State Age Championships at the end of June. Over three days across four locations we were thrilled to take part in the largest female sporting event in the Southern Hemisphere! Thanks so much to all the teams who competed at Hawkesbury City Netball Association, Baulkham Hills Shire Netball Association, Eastwood Ryde Netball Association and Penrith District Netball Association and came over to say hi, take a selfie and share the netball spirit with us!
Last week we headed up to Maitland to say hi to the teams competing in the NSW NIB Games hosted by the Hunter Academy of Sport. As well as a great day of competition on the court, the participating teams treated us to a night of NWC2015 entertainment, where each academy was required to present an item after dinner to pay tribute to one of the 16 NWC2015 participating nations!
The following day, the Trophy Tour team headed off to the National Centre of Indigenous Excellence, where they were holding a Sports Day as a part of their NAIDOC Week celebrations. The National Aborigine and Islanders Day Observance Committee organises NAIDOC week annually, and it was a great way to celebrate the diversity within our fabulous netball community.
On the weekend, our friends at Chemist Warehouse hosted us at their store in Castle Towers! Lots of people seemed excited to have their photo taken with myself and the Trophy. Australian Diamonds captain, Laura Geitz, came down to join in the fun as well, I think she might have been slightly more popular…!
Have you caught up with us at any of these visits? If so, make sure you tag us in your photos with the Trophy and/or myself on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram! Alternatively, you can email them to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you haven’t caught us on the road yet, make sure you keep your eyes out! We could be at a local netty event near you very soon!
Until next time,
