Created in conjunction with Netball Australia, and thanks to NSW State Government and Federal Government funding, the Bench Official Education Course, which is designed to arm participants with the skills and knowledge required to fulfil all Bench Official roles, can now be accessed from anywhere, at any time.
Having the course available online also means a significant reduction in volunteers’ time administering face-to-face courses, freeing up valuable time to mentor developing bench officials.
The course is based on the International Netball Federation Bench Officials’ Manual, with the key benefit of the course being the ability for participants to learn in a self-paced environment at a time and place that individually suits them.
The course is accessible all year round, is free of charge to complete, and can be accessed by anyone from across the world. The course covers not only the importance of being a Bench Official, but also the roles of scoring, timekeeping, and extra time procedures.
In Australia, the Bench Officials’ Education Course is also one of two pre-requisites for obtaining the State Bench Official Accreditation and subsequently the National Bench Officials Accreditation.
